چکیده

This Master thesis deals with an approach for 2D-3D pose estimation, which relies on texture information on the surface mesh of an object model. The textured surface mesh is projected in a virtual image, and a block matching algorithm is employed to determine correspondences between midpoints of surface patches to the image data. To facilitate this purpose, the block matching algorithm needs to be modified from the standard translational model to the perspective model (2D-3D block matching). The matching results are then applied on a point based 2D-3D pose estimation algorithm to determine the pose and orientation of the 3D object with respect to the given image data. The effectiveness of this algorithm will be analyzed in detail.

Compression of PointTexture 3D Motion Sequences

In this work, we propose two compression algorithms for PointTexture 3D sequences: the octree-based scheme and the motion-compensated prediction scheme. The first scheme represents each PointTexture frame hierarchically using an octree. The geometry information in the octree nodes is encoded by the predictive partial matching (PPM) method. The encoder supports the progressive transmission of th...

Motion Trajectories For Ultrasound Displacement Quantification

We present a robust methodology to quantify displacements in musculoskeletal ultrasound sequences. This paper extends the principles of 2D interframe displacements produced by our earlier work using hierarchical variable block size matching, to quantify displacement trajectories. We provide novel solutions for probe motion, quantification of objects moving in the 3D volume traversing the 2D pla...

Effects of geometrical and geomechanical properties on slope stability of open-pit mines using 2D and 3D finite difference methods

Slope stability analysis is one of the most important problems in mining and geotechnical engineering. Ignoring the importance of these problems can lead to significant losses. Selecting an appropriate method to analyze the slope stability requires a proper understanding of how different factors influence the outputs of the analyses. This paper evaluates the effects of considering the real geom...
